William A Taylor was born in Roark's Cove in Franklin county Tennessee circa 1843. He was the son of Margaret Nugent and Miles Taylor. His family moved to Jackson county Alabama around 1844 where he grew up and went to school. He decided to fight in the Civil War and enlisted in 12th Alabama Regiment company G on August 15, 1861 in Woodville, AL. His regiment was stationed in Richmond Virginia. He got sick and died in a Virginia hospital probably from typhoid fever on December 1, 1861.
