Miles Taylor was born in South Carolina around 1814. Census records show that both of his parents are from Virginia. He married Margaret Nugent in Franklin County Tennessee on August 19, 1838 by James S. Cawley, J.P.. They moved from Franklin County to Jackson County Alabama around 1844 and lived there for the rest of their lives. He fathered six known children with Margaret. He bought about 40 acres of land on October 3, 1859 near Paint Rock in Jackson County Alabama. He was able to read but not write according to census records. Miles and Margaret are listed in the judgement of the John Nugent estate. After the death of his wife in 1876 he lived with his son in law James Houk and daughter Sarah. In the 1880 Census his occupation is listed as a Wheelwright , and was said to have Erysipelas which probably caused his death as there was no cure at the time. I have found no more records since then.
