Jane Nugent known as Jennie was born around November 1828 in Roark's Cove Franklin County Tennessee. Her father was John Nugent and mother was Elizabeth Neighbors. Jane is named as one of the beneficiaries in the Will of William Nugent, her grandfather. Jane was a mattress maker by trade. She did not learn to read or write according to census records. Jane and her sisters were assulted as is shown in the 1852 court case. She had a son George Washington Nugent, his father was believed to be a student at the University of the South in Sewanee Tennessee according to family stories but they never married. She lived with her sister Musadora after the birth of her son, as is shown in the 1870 and 1880 census records. She later lived with her sister Emily as shown in the 1900 census. She then lived with her son George as shown in the 1910 census. She was listed as an heir in the John Nugent estate. She died in Roark's Cove Franklin County Tennessee on October 25, 1910 from pneumonia. I have yet to find a marked grave.
