Emily Elizabeth Nugent known as Elizabeth was born March 1, 1829, according to her grave marker, in Roark's Cove Franklin County Tennessee, but the census records suggest that she may have been born around 1825. Elizabeth's father was John Nugent and mother was Elizabeth Neighbors. Elizabeth is named as one of the beneficiaries in the Will of William Nugent, her grand father. Elizabeth and her sisters were assaulted as is shown in the 1852 court case. Elizabeth married Benjamin Cherry on April 27, 1854 by John Hendley, J.P. in Franklin County Tennessee and had five children. After the death of Benjamin May 23, 1876 she lived with her children and later her sister Jane Nugent lived with her as well. Elizabeth is listed as an heir in the John Nugent estate. In July of 1879 she started receiving an eight dollar a month pension for Benjamin Cherry's service in the War of 1812. She died of pneumonia on December 30, 1911 in Franklin County and is buried in the Cherry Cemetery next to her husband Benjamin Cherry.
